We are delighted to be back in school and look forward to an exciting first term at Longstone. Things may be a little bit different for the next while but we will do our best to make sure that school is as safe, fun and enjoyable as we can.
In P1-4, our teacher is Mrs Logan and our classroom assistants are Mrs McCall and Catriona.
Up until Half Term our class theme will be “Wonderful Mighty Me”. During this time we will be looking at all sorts of things to do with our bodies, our families and where we live. We will be enjoying different activities in our playroom for Play Based Learning and we will have fun exploring Science, Geography, History and Technology.
In P5-7 our teachers are Mrs Moody and Miss Neill.
We’re excited to be back at school and we’re really glad to be back in our P5-7 class bubble. We have settled into our ‘new normal’ really well and have been enjoying our time in class together. Mrs Moody teaches us number work, reading skills and grammar work on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. We learn all about the World Around Us on these afternoons and this term we are studying our ‘Mighty Materials’ topic which has a real Science focus. We’ve been experimenting outdoors and it’s been lots of fun being scientists and changing materials and separating mixtures using different processes. We’ve been developing our ICT skills using the class computers and our one-to-one iPads.
Miss Neill takes us on Thursdays and Fridays for writing skills-this term we’re enjoying poetry including haikus, kennings and rhyming poems. For Numeracy, our focus is on 2D and 3D shapes and in Art we’re using the works of William Morris for inspiration. Our sport for P.E. is hockey and we’re working hard on developing our skills and fitness. In P.D.M.U. we are discussing the benefits of friendship and are learning about the attributes of a good friend. We have focussed on the story of Moses in R.E. We’ve been making the most of the good weather by being out in our garden and have made sure we’ve kept the weeds at bay!
