This is our school, Let peace dwell here, Let the rooms be full of contentment. Let love abide here. Love of one another, Love of mankind, Love of life itself, And love of God. Let us remember That as many hands build a house, So many hearts make our school.
Longstone Primary School, Ahoghill is situated off the main road between Randalstown and Portglenone, some four miles south of Portglenone. It serves the rural community within a five mile radius of the school and the majority of the children travel to school by bus.
It is important to us that all pupils will settle happily into our school, particularly those who are attending for the first time. At Longstone we try to provide a broad well-balanced curriculum for each of our children according to their ability. Our main aim is to help each child achieve their full potential.
It is the policy of this school:
To encourage in pupils a respect for the dignity of others showing understanding, courtesy and tolerance, i.e. their peers, adults, elderly people and children from backgrounds not similar to their own.
- We hope to develop in each pupil the capacity to co-operate with others.
- We hope that our children will share their experiences of EMU activities with their parents.
- We hope to bring adults other than the teachers to the school for various curricular purposes. The children will also have a wide variety of educational experiences outside the school. The children will be encouraged to offer practical support to people in need, i.e. giving money or gifts to charities.
